Description of the treatments available at the Physio–therapeutic
Department of the Busko−Zdrój Health Resort

FASONY SIARCZKOWE
– stosowane u pacjentów z istniejącymi przeciwwskazaniami do pobierania kąpieli w wannie. Polegają na zanurzeniu kończyn górnych i dolnych w wodzie siarczkowej.

MOOR MUD WRAPPINGS

–  moor mud is a kind of therapeutic peat occurring on the ground as a result of organic processes in nature. Estrogenic bodies, humic acids, proteins and tannins are therapeutic factors. The treatment consists in putting a pulp of 40°–45°C onto the cleansed skin. Moor mud wrappings are particularly beneficial when treating inflammatory conditions of joints and soft tissues.

REHABILITATION IN A SWIMMING POOL

 – is widely used in the treatment of a number of chronic diseases. The aquatic environment favours
doing exercises at ease. Exercises done in water are beneficial to those suffering from disorders of neuromuscular coordination, mobility limitations of the spine, joint pains, vertebral discopathies, circulation disorders of lower limbs, diabetes, obesity, and contribute to improving all−round fitness and efficiency.


UNDERWATER GIECHEV STRETCHERS

– one of the ways of treating lumbar discopathy. It is relevant to patients up to 55 years of age, 100 kg of weight, and having up−to−date X−ray photographs of the lum-bar spine. Contraindications: obesity, arterial hypertension
IIş, osteoporosis, instability of the spine, fixed scoliosis, and neoplastic changes of the spine. Therapy is meant to stretch the lumbar spine by the relaxation of paravertebral muscles in the aquatic environment, increasing the mobility of the spine, and relieving aches.

SCOTCH JET DOUCHE

– hydrotherapeutic procedure in which pressure and temperature of one or a number of needlepoint water
jets are of primary importance. Jets have soothing and relaxing effects, and lower the arterial blood pressure and the hyperemia of the skin through dilaing blood vessels.

MAGNETIC RESONANCE (MRS/ VIOFOR)
– apparatuses designed for physicotherapeutic procedures (magnetostimulation) with the use of a magnetic field affecting the whole body or its specific
parts. It improves the peripheral circulation, affects the regeneration of soft tissues, speeds up the cicatrization of wounds and bone fractures, and is beneficial to degenerative diseases.

TERAPULS
– therapy with an impulse current of high requency. It causes electromagnetic vibrations, formed impulses whose energy is conveyed to tissues under their action. It decreases arthritic reaction, speeds up the regeneration of damaged nerve fibers and contributes to increasing the peripheral circulation.

PULSOTRONIK

–an electrostimulator of high electrotherapeutic efficiency.
Modulated impulse currents of medium frequency are capable of stimulating neuromuscular structures. They are
felt by the patients as pleasing vibrations.

DIADYNAMIK
– modulated currents formed by imposing a harmonic current on a galvanic current. They are mostly recommended to obtain analgesic action, and to relieve the muscle tension.



IONOPHORESIS
–  a way of introducing ions and molecules of drugs into the system through the skin and mucous membrane under the influence of direct current. According to the drug used, it is likely to improve innervation, to obtain hypesthesia, and increase the calcareous infiltration of the skeleton. It also shows analgesic action.

GALVANISATION
– an electrotherapeutic procedure which consists in the passage of direct current through the treated parts of the body. It is used in neuralgies, pains caused by back−bone degenerative changes, and disturbances of the peripheral circulation.

ISODYNAMIC
– used in analgesic procedure, posttraumatic states
accompanied by tissue swelling, treating pains caused by various factors, neuralgies, chronic inflammatory and degenerative states.

ULTRASOUNDS
– improve blood supply, show analgesic action, soothe muscular tension, stretch and contract tissues in micromassage




PARAFFIN COMPRESSES
– the thermal factor causes both the surface and the deep congestion of tissues. The application is the same as in moor mud procedures.


INDIVIDUAL INHALATIONS

– recommended in chronic pharyngitis, rhinitis, laryngitis, allergy, vocal exhaustion, prophylaxis among workers exposed to dust inhalation, and in other diseases of the respiratory system. Inhaling is a very convenient form of treatment.

SAUNA
– the oldest way of regenerating the body and its stamina which consists in heating and cooling it in turns. Application: susceptibility to infections, a predisposition to colds, chronic bronchitis, idiopathic hypertension at its first stages, low blood pressure, disorders of capillary circulation (cold hands, feet), arthrosis, non−inflammatory disorders of the back−bone, disturbances of metabolism, obesity, diabetes, chronic rheumatic diseases, post−traumat−
ic states of the locomotor organ, gynecopathy.

SOLARIUM
–  UV rays stimulate meta bolism, lower sugar level and cholesterol in blood, enhance synthesis of vitamin D indispensable in calcium assimilation. It is especially recommended in atopic diseases and psoriasis. A suitable dose of rays affects the mood, especially in winter when sunshine is scarce.

SALT CAVE OF MARITIME MICROCLIMATE CENTRE

– clean ionized air in the Salt Cave favours the treatment of lung and bronchial diseases,
thyroid hypofunction, allergic complaints of any type, heart and cardiovascular diseases, gastroenteropathy, skin diseases, vegetative nervous system malfunction, and neurosis.




SUPPLEMENT

 The health resort offers a wide range of artistic activities to be relished in a historical concert hall at the Sanatorium „Marconi”. The pleas− ing strains of the Spa Chamber Orchestra and famous singers produce a very calming effect on the audience gathered here to get welcome relief from the torment of their complaints. The Orchestra, considered the best spa orchestra in Poland, has animated the local cultural scene for 56 years providing visitors with feelings to remember.

Therapies are prescribed by resort doctors and timetabled in the outpatient resort department.
